So i'm putting in a new wood base for my helm seat on my 175 and planning to epoxy it to waterproof it. Should I bother adding fiberglass too, or is the epoxy enough to keep it strong and dry? Want to make sure it lasts without extra work. Thanks!
Thanks. I did coat it all the way around, but now that you mention it, the very base is probably the most exposed part. Its not constantly wet, but it does get a decent amount of splash and occasional standing water. Would you recommend glassing just the bottom surface, or wrapping the cloth a bit up the sides too for added protection??How exposed is the base on your 175? Epoxy alone does a solid job sealing and waterproofing, especially if you coat all surfaces well. If the area sees a lot of stress or moisture, a layer of glass cloth should work
